The Human Face

In this 2 hour ceramic sculpture workshop you will learn to simplify the structure of the human face while sculpting a 6" sculpture. Explore expression and emotion and how to translate it through subtle details. The structural aspects of this sculpture is simple making this a great introductory class for beginners. The human face will be sculpted and left for bisque firing. Antiquing, painting and mounting options will be discussed and considered for your structure to do at home. If you'd like to join a second instructional workshop to paint your bisque fired face you can sign up for that too.

Finishing Techniques
In this 1 hour workshop you will antique and paint your face sculpture. Wire backed mounting will be offered but you can bring a piece of wood or other item to mount your face on.

2 Day Workshop

Cottage Bird Feeder
In this 2 day workshop you will learn to hand build a cylindrical structure using the slab method. You will learn how to emboss your clay with your chosen design. Have fun embellishing it with shutters, chimney or anything you so desire making it uniquely yours! You have the freedom to choose a vintage style or go contemporary to suit your taste! This is a fun sculpture that's completely functional. The structural aspects as well as the assembly of this sculpture is simple making this a great introductory class for beginners.
Ideal for ages 12+.
Day 1: 2.5 hrs
From start to finish the sculpture will be built and left for bisque firing. Particular attention to attaching clay elements and sculptural aesthetics will be a primary focus.
Day 2: 1.5 hrs
You will glaze your sculpture in the colors of your choice and leave for final firing! Pick up finished piece at your convenience.

2 Day Workshop

Big Mouth Bird Feeder
In this 2 day workshop you will learn to hand build a cylindrical structure from a slab while sculpting the face. The cone roof comes off to add bird seed and easily clean the bird Feeder . This is a fun sculpture that's completely functional. The tongue serves as a perch for the bird who can enter the house through the mouth! The structural aspects as well as the assembly of this sculpture is simple making this a great introductory class for beginners. Ideal for ages 14+.
Day 1: 2.5 hrs
From start to finish the sculpture will be built and left for bisque firing. Particular attention to attaching clay elements along with sculptural aesthetics will be a primary focus.
Day 2: 1.5 hrs
The bird house will be stained and finished using non-toxic acrylic colorants and taken home without the need for a second firing. Twine or paracord will be measured and applied to assembled bird house for hanging.

The Lacy Mug
In this 2 day workshop you will hand build this beautiful embossed Mug. The personal touch of lace and chosen color combination will make this mug your mornings favorite choice! The simplicity of this functional ceramic Mug makes it a great introductory class for beginners.
Day 1: 2.5 hrs.
From start to finish the mug will be built and left for bisque firing. Particular attention to attaching clay elements along with implementing decorative embossing and functionality will be the primary focus.
Day 2: 1.25 hrs.
The bisque fired Mug will be glazed and kiln fired. Attention to color contrast and continuity will be explored.

2 Day Tuesday Workshop
The Human Face
In this 2 day workshop you will learn to simplify the structure of the human face while sculpting a 6" - 8" relief sculpture. Explore expression and emotion and how to translate it through subtle details. The structural aspects of this sculpture is simple making this a great introductory class for beginners.
Day 1: 2 hrs.
From start to finish the human face will be sculpted and left for bisque firing. Mounting options will be discussed and considered for the structure of the back of the relief.
Day 2: 1 hr.
Sculptures will be cold finished with optional Antiquing and or stained with Acrylic washes and paint. Students will discuss optional mounting ideas along with embellishments the student can apply at home to their finished sculpture.
